Far-right activist banned from Uber for anti-Muslim rant

Far-right activist Laura Loomer has been banned by Uber and Lyft for complaining on Twitter about Muslim drivers on the two ride share services.

Uber and Lyft informed Business Insider via email that Loomer had been banned from their platforms. Uber cited her violation of community guidelines as the reason behind her ban. Loomer posted racist tweets after a former Uber driver, who was Muslim, committed a terror attack in New York, killing eight people on Tuesday.

“I’m late to the NYPD press conference because I couldn’t find a non Muslim cab or @Uber @lyft driver for over 30 min! This is insanity,” Loomer wrote. She also called for a ‘non-Islamic form of uber’ and defended herself by saying that she was simply addressing legitimate safety concerns.

Denizens of the Twitterverse such as Gigi Hadid had a simple retort to Loomers tweet:

Loomer is not the first far-right activist banned from ride sharing platforms. Uber banned Tim Gionet, known as Baked Alaska, for reportedly making racist remarks towards a driver in Washington DC.
