FC Balochistan recovers arms from militant hideouts: ISPR

ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition stashed in militants’ hideouts during numerous Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in various areas of the restive province.

This was stated by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

The IBOs were conducted in Chaman, Kohlu, Sibbi and Uch areas of the province under countrywide operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to disarm and eliminate the hidden terrorist sleeper cells, ISPR said in the statement.

A large cache of arms and ammunition including RPG grenades, sub-machine guns and suicide belts were recovered during the raids.

Taliban and other Islamist militants operate in the province, which shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran, besides the separatist militants waging a campaign against the central government for decades for a greater share of the mineral-rich province’s resources.

The province was rocked by a series of attacks late last year that claimed over 180 lives and raised concerns about a growing militant presence, including fighters affiliated with Islamic State, which had claimed several bombings in Balochistan.
