Indian troops kill 12 youths in occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Indian troops have killed 12 youths during ongoing search operations in Islamabad and Shopian districts of occupied Kashmir, according to a Kashmir Media Service (KMS) report.

Indian police in a statement claimed that 11 youths were killed in two gunfights with Indian forces in south Kashmir districts.

Seven youths were killed in Dragad and four in Kachdora areas of South Kashmir. They said top separatist commanders were among those killed.

Separately, a young man Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed during an overnight operation at Brunty Dialgam in Islamabad district.

The authorities have suspended train and Internet services in South Kashmir districts following the killings.

Meanwhile, as many as 100 civilians were injured when Indian forces resorted to brute force and fired pellets and bullets on protesters in Draged and Kachdora areas, today.

Medical Superintendent (MS) district hospital Shopian, Dr Shafat informed media that they received over 50 injured persons. Many of them were shifted to Srinagar hospitals for further treatment.

“We are unable to maintain the record of the injured because of such a large influx of injured,” Dr Shafat said. Independent sources say that the number of injured youth may exceed 100.
