Medical board examines Nawaz at Adiala
Nawaz Sharif Adial jail

ISLAMABAD: A medical board has arrived at Adiala jail to examine former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who is serving sentence awarded to him in the Avenfield properties case. It has also brought a mobile-laboratory for his check-up.

Dr Aijaz Qadeer is heading the medical board which also comprises of Dr Naeem Malik, Dr Shajee Siddiqui, Dr Sohail Tanvir and Dr Mashood. It includes a cardiologist, gastroenterologist and other medical specialists.

The former premier has been moved from his cell to the medical facility at the prison for the check-up.

The board was formed on the directives of the Ministry of Interior after the three-time premier complained of kidney-related pain, according to the jail authorities.

It would be decided in the light of his medical report whether he needed to be shifted to a hospital or not.

It merits mention here that PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif had earlier written a letter to caretaker Prime Minister retired Justice Nasirul Mulk, complaining that there was no air conditioner in his elder brother’s cell nor were there proper medical facilities.

He said his brother has a history of diabetes and heart ailment and therefore needed timely medical attention and medicines.

He demanded that the ex-PM’s doctor should be permitted to visit him twice a day to examine his health.
