ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeemul Haq on Friday rejected the reports that the party has contacted the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to seek its support for an alliance at the Centre.

Speaking to the media here, he stated in clear terms that the party is in a position to form provincial government in Punjab.  “We are in touch with independents,” he added.

His statement came shortly after PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz stressed that his party has 127 seats in Punjab while PTI 123 and therefore, it will form a government in Punjab with help of the PPP, PML-Q and independent candidates.

He reminded the PTI chief that his uncle Nawaz Sharif had given him a chance to form the government in KP in 2013.

Responding to the PML-N leader, Mr. Haq said this is 2018 not 2013. A majority of the independents is with his party and will announce in a day or two how it’s going to form the government, he added.

Mr Haq said they are ready to hold a probe into rigging allegations in any constituency.

Meanwhile, PTI senior leader Jahangir Tareen talked to MQM-P leader Khalid Maqobool Siddiqui by telephone and invited him to be a part of its government in the Centre. They both agreed to hold a meeting soon in this regard.
