What is stress?
Stress happens when we feel we can’t cope with pressure – it’s a state of emotional strain resulting from demanding circumstances, deadlines, sudden information and ongoing and mounting responsibilities.
Symptoms include a feeling of uneasiness, panic or dread – triggers can vary from lack of sleep, to redundancy.
Here are a few effective ways to de-stress.
- Take a power nap.
- Take up a new project or craft hobby
- Drink some green tea (but make sure it’s decaf).
- Heat relaxes muscles – so have a hot bath.
- De-clutter your home or work desk.
- Go for a run outdoors – 20-minutes a day helps to boost endorphins and reduce stress.
- Take a lunch break away from your desk – take a break from your to-do list.
- Enjoy ‘ME’ time.
- Socialize. Meet. Laugh!
- Keep sugar levels balanced – Grab your favorite chocolate!
- Art therapy – Draw, scribble, pen abstract images.
- Don’t chase perfection and hug uncertainty.
