PCB new chairman to be elected on 4th September

The election for the new chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to take place on September 4.

According to sources, the Election Commissioner for PCB Justice (retd) Syed Afzal Haider, who has taken charge as interim chairman of the board, has summoned a session to elect the new chief.

Former ICC president, Ahsan Mani is in a strong position to take charge of the PCB after he was nominated for the position by the newly elected Prime-minster of Pakistan and Patron-in-chief PCB, Imran Khan.

A chartered accountant by profession, Mani will resume the office after the session of PCB’s board of governors.

Moreover, last week Prime Minister Imran Khan nominated Ahsan Mani and Asad Ali Khan as the members of PCB’s governing body for the next three years.

On August 20, two days after Khan’s oath-taking ceremony, Najam Sethi stepped down as PCB Chairman to leave a vacant space for a new talent to come and forge ahead with Khan’s vision.
