ISLAMABAD: The interim government has decided to maintain the prices of petroleum products at the existing level for the current month.
A notification put out by the Ministry of Finance said the prices of petroleum products have been kept the current levels in order to provide relief to the common man despite the recommendation by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) for jacking up the rates to keep up with rising prices in the global market.
Accordingly, prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and light diesel will remain Rs95.24 per litre, Rs112.94, Rs83.96, and Rs75.37, respectively.
Ogra had recommended an increase in price of high speed diesel by Rs2 per litre, petrol Rs2.50 per litre, kerosene Rs5 per litre and light diesel oil by Rs6 per litre for August.

The government reduced the GST from 17 per cent to 12 per cent on motor spirit and kerosene oil, from 31 per cent to 24 on high-speed diesel and from 17 per cent to 9 per cent on light speed diesel.
Petrol price was reduced by Rs4.26 per litre to Rs95.24 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel was reduced by Rs6.37 per litre to Rs112.94 per litre while light-speed diesel was slashed by Rs5.54 to Rs75.37 per litre.
