PSP adamant to admit defeat, questions ‘transparency’ of polls

KARACHI: Chairman of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal raised questions on the fairness of General Elections 2018 with allegations of rigging in one of his party members’ constituency.

“If votes had been counted in front of us then we would have congratulated the winners,” Kamal angrily remarked while claiming that rigging took place in the constituency of Arshad Vohra.

The PSP had a disastrous show in the general elections and failed to win even a single seat. PSP chief Mustafa Kamal failed miserable in one National Assembly seat he was contesting from and two provincial assembly seats.

There are 21 seats in the National Assembly and 44 in the Sindh Assembly. PSP was dismally placed at fifth or sixth position in many constituencies.

In PSP’s general workers session on July 30, Mustafa Kamal told his supporters not be dejected by election outcome, and still continuing work for the next local government elections.

“Today I announce to start preparations for the next local bodies elections,” he said, adding that the people still support him.

Refusing to admit that the party was over, the PSP chief said his opponents do not know him and his party workers, and the election defeat has ignited a determination to work for the next election.

He urged to start preparations for the next elections, and said that he would revisit every street and corner again to carry his message.
