LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique submitted his nomination papers for NA-131 Lahore 9 constituency to contest in the upcoming by-polls.
In general elections of July 25, Rafique had lost against Prime Minister Imran Khan on NA-131 seat.
In a neck to neck electoral battle on NA-131, Rafique secured 83,633 votes against the PTI chairman’s 84,313 votes.
As PM Khan vacated NA-131 seat in order to retain his hometown seat of NA-95 Mianwali, the Lahore 9 constituency’s seat fell vacant. Now, former railway minister will again vie for NA-131 seat as the PML-N had issued a ticket to him for the by-elections.
Rafique’s wife, Ghazala Saad Rafique, will serve as the covering candidate for the former minister.
By-elections will be held countrywide on October 14.
