At least 48 people died after a suicide bomber flew through the air inside an educational center in the Afghan capital Kabul, an official source reported on Wednesday (08.15.2018).
In addition, at least 67 other people were injured, some of them seriously, in the attack in the Dasht-e Bartshi neighborhood, a predominantly Shiite area of the city, said Afghan Health Ministry spokesman Wahidullah Mayroh.
The center teaches subjects such as mathematics, chemistry and physics for high school graduates who are studying to enter university. The majority of the victims are students.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the jihadist Islamic State (IS) group often launches attacks against Shiite minorities in Afghanistan.
Since January, at least 16 attacks with more than 240 deaths have been recorded in the Afghan capital.
The violence of the Taliban ravages the country
