Another bomb found at Karachi blast site, defused

KARACHI: An improvised explosive device, found from a spot where a bomb went off yesterday in Karachi, was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad in the wee hours of Saturday, ARY News reported.

The bomb was concealed in a tiny box with a time device and it was spotted by law enforcers.

According to senior cop, who is a part of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Mazhar Mashwani, the BDS team was immediately called and they successfully defused an IED which could have triggered a serious tragedy.

The bomb disposal squad carried the explosive device to a nearby ground and made the device inoperative. Personnel of police and Rangers had surrounded the spot during the BDS operation.

At least two people were killed while several others injured when a explosion went off under Quaidabad flyover in Malir on Friday.

According to the police, the blast took place in a heap of used clothes placed underneath the bridge injuring around a dozen people.

The blast was heard far away as panic gripped the locality. A large number of police personnel had reached the blast site and cordoned it off for security reasons.

Following the incident, power supply was also suspended to the area.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the Additional IG Karachi. He issued directives for provision of proper treatment to the injured persons.
