Last week, a news report went viral on social media regarding the Government of Pakistan considering to announce Friday as a weekly off in place of Sunday.
However, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Government of Pakistan, Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry has finally broken silence on the matter
According to the federal minister Fawad Chaudhry:
NO CHANGE IN WEEKLY HOLIDAY CALENDAR IS UNDER CONSIDERATION, ALL SUCH RUMORS REGARDING THE CHANGE IN THIS REGARD ARE BASELESS.
No change in weekly holiday calender is under consideration, all such rumours regarding change in this regard are baseless

Rumors were that Pakistan is considering the decision to announce Friday off as the country is currently working on further strengthening its ties with the UAE as well as Saudi Arabia. Sunday is observed as the weekly off in Pakistan and Friday as a weekly holiday in Arab countries.
However, there will be now no change in weekly calendar.
