LAHORE: An accountability court of Lahore on Friday again sought reply from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over a petition seeking to unfreeze the bank accounts of Paragon society.
According to details, accountability court judge Najamul Hasan Bukhari heard the petition filed by Managing Director of Paragon Housing Society Brigadier Aalm Zaib.
The petitioner apprised the court that the anti-graft watchdog has frozen all bank accounts of Paragon Society, and the company has been caught into severe financial crisis. “We are not even able to pay for utility bills and employees’ salary,” the petitioner said.
The accountability court has granted the time till February 12 to the bureau to submit its reply on the matter.
It is pertinent to mention that NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged scam in November after a number of victims staged protests and held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club against what they termed housing society’s fraud.
On Dec 11, NAB authorities had arrested former minster Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique after Lahore High Court (LHC) had turned down their bail plea in Paragon Housing Society scam. Both the brothers are main accused in the case and are currently under detention of the bureau.
