PPP’s Owais Muzaffar Tappi refutes arrest reports

KARACHI: Former Sindh local bodies minister and former president Asif Ali Zardari’s foster brother, Owais Muzaffar Tappi, has refuted reports of his arrest in Dubai, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Owais Muzaffar Tappi said he was in Dubai and only heard about his arrest on media.

Earlier, a report quoted by sources, said that former provincial minister, Owais Muzaffar Tappi was arrested last night in Dubai.

The National Accountability Bureau had approved the launching of inquiries in four different cases against Owais Muzaffar Tappi in August last year.

The report also said that the former Sindh minister will be transferred to Pakistan soon.

DIG South Javed Odho on the court’s summon informed the Supreme Court that Owais Muzaffar Tappi has been out of country for three years.

Former chief justice Saqib Nisar last year heard a petition of a citizen of Karachi about land grabbing charges against Owais Muzaffar and Agha Siraj Durrani.

Petitioner Dr. Iqbal alleged the the two accused illegally grabbed a housing scheme of Malir district.
