In a letter relayed to all members of the PML-N, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has urged the party to ensure the forthcoming Azadi March against the PTI-led government is a success.
The incarcerated former prime minister had announced two days back that he had penned a letter to his brother PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif specifying his party’s future course of action, and was hopeful that the latter would inform the media about it.
In the letter, the former prime minister repeated his support to the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for the Azadi March in the capital.
“This is the time to stand up,” he wrote. “This is the time to set aside all convenience and fight for our rights,” read the letter.
The letter added that when the country’s honor, its self-respect is at stake, everyone should stand up and defend their rights.
The former prime minister requested Maulana to come up with a comprehensive program about the march, adding that he had seriously considered the latter’s proposals.
Fazl had met Nawaz and apprised him of the discussions held in a meeting of the JUI-F central executive committee.
PML-N senior leader Ahsan Iqbal, in a press conference after the meeting, said that a party delegation had met Maulana Fazl and presented the PML-N’s recommendations for the march.
Iqbal informed the media that Nawaz Sharif has said that maulana sahib’s call for a protest post-election was absolutely right,” adding that the PML-N fully supports “Azadi March.”
