Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari said the Pakistani expatriates have contributed more than Rs100 million to the Covid-19 Relief Fund of the Prime Minister in response to the website launched by his ministry.
“Over 646,580 dollars (Rs100 million) has been donated by the overseas Pakistanis so far,” said Bukhari, while addressing the Pakistani-Americans’ Virtual Town Hall Meeting to discuss the problems faced by them across the United States in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
The special session, held the other day, was attended by US Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan of Pakistan, Consul General Aysha Ali, Pakistani businessmen, first responders, coronavirus survivors and members of Pakistani organizations based in the United States.
The special assistant said the corona relief fund of the PM has so far provided more than Rs2 billion, of which the locals donated 70 per cent. “The fund received an unprecedented response from the local residents,” he stated.
