The United States may be able to start reopening gradually next month, said the top infectious disease specialist in the country, as signs emerged that the coronavirus pandemic peaked, AFP reported.
In a television interview, Anthony Fauci, the veteran pandemic expert who quietly sought measures to curb outbreaks, said that parts of the country could begin to loosen restrictions in May — but was cautious.
“I think it could probably start at least in some ways maybe next month,” Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN.
Q: Will it be safe for voters to go to the polls in November?
Fauci: "I hope so … However, and I don't want to be the pessimistic person, there is always the possibility, as we get into next fall and the beginning of early winter, that we could see a rebound" #CNNSOTU pic.twitter.com/ZRuRmoXjEZ
