President Donald Trump has declared what he describes as a “temporary suspension of immigration into the US” According to Reuters, the executive order will restrict only those seeking permanent residency, not temporary workers.
Trump said he would place a 60-day hold on green card issuance in an attempt to curtail competition for jobs in a coronavirus-wrecked US economy. The directive will contain “certain exemptions,” he said, but refused to name them, adding that the directive was still being crafted.
