LAHORE: PML-N Leader Shehbaz Sharif was granted ad interim bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday until 17 June, withholding the arrest of the opposition leader from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
An LHC division bench, headed by Justice Tariq Abbasi, heard Shehbaz ‘s plea for pre-arrest bail.
Several prominent PML-N leaders were present as as a show of support, but some were not permitted to enter the court premises.
Yesterday afternoon, officials searching for the president of the PML-N stopped the party’s provincial president Rana Sanaullah ‘s car after they suspected the opposition leader was also present in the vehicle.
Shehbaz had filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) for a temporary bail in the assets beyond means and money laundering cases. The anti-graft watchdog teams had also raided the PML-N president’s house on Tuesday, waiting outside his home, and searching began yesterday morning.
The party’s spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb reached LHC and Sanaullah’s vehicle was stopped near Hall Road chowk while he was on his way to the court.
