SOPs issued during Eid ul Azha, to mitigate Covid-19

On Sunday, the Ministry of National Health Services issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) to mitigate the spread of person-to-person Covid-19 transmission to the general public including purchasers and sellers of animals during Eidul Azha.

According to a ministry official, the SOPs relate to social distancing, preventive measures during animal slaughter and Eid prayers.

He said the public can only undertake minimally necessary travel during Eid holidays, as it is likely to fall in Pakistan’s peak time of pandemic while social visits at Eid and the general family get together should be avoided.

He said Eid shopping should be confined to minimal essentials as per SOPs and it is not advisable to crowd in markets. The ‘Eid greeting’ tradition is expected to enhance transmission, so it should be avoided for this Eid.
