According to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s spokesperson, the Sindh cabinet on Thursday approved the creation of a new district in Keamari area by splitting Karachi’s District West.
The spokesperson said that the new district would consist of Site, Baldia, Harbour and Maripur sub-divisions, adding that the city’s west area is the largest in Sindh in terms of population (3,914,757).
At present, Karachi Division comprises six districts: South, East, West, Malir, Korangi and Central.
