On Wednesday, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Covid-19 announced a schedule for business and social activities in 11 cities most susceptible to the deadly coronavirus.

Restaurants, wedding halls, commercial markets and shopping malls to shutdown at 10pm as per NCOC directives.
Recreational spots, such as amusement and public parks, have been asked to shut down by 6pm.
However, essential services such as medical stores, clinics and hospitals will remain open.
According to the notification, due to “consistent increase in positivity percentage and disease prevalence during last two weeks”, NCOC decided to issue the new directives in areas with more than 2% positivity.
This includes Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Peshawar and Quetta.
Wearing mask is mandatory in public places and a fine of Rs6,000 to Rs35,000 will be imposed on the offenders and a penalty of six months imprisonment. A notification in this regard will be released on Thursday in the Pakistan Gazette, but will come into effect after Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
“All the parameters i.e. positivity of tests, mortality rate, admissions in hospitals, etc, are increasing. Though there is no exponential increase in cases, I believe that the time has come to take steps to control the virus, otherwise things can become worse,” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan said
He said the message was that Pakistan should not lose the war won against the virus. “We are taking provinces onboard and I have reached Lahore to talk to the Punjab government. Similarly, other provinces will also be taken onboard,” he added.
The country’s coronavirus portal reported that 4,374 lock downs have been imposed by the authorities so far in 11 cities in Pakistan.
In the past 24 hours, the country reported 825 cases and 14 deaths due to the coronavirus.
