ISLAMABAD: Two motorcyclists were badly injured after being hit by a car driven by a US diplomat in the federal capital on Sunday night.
As per police reports, Rex Ausburn, a second secretary at the US embassy, driving a SUV (QN-734) hit two motorcyclists – identified as Nazakat Aslam Awan, and Muhammad Waseem – on Constitution Avenue near the Pak Secretariat complex. The road mishap happened at around 9:40pm.
The two injured were shifted to PIMS for medical assistance. Awan is prone to a critical head injury while Waseem had some minor injuries.
The latest accident involving a US diplomat came weeks after a similar road mishap in which a motorcyclist was killed while another injured by a US diplomat in Islamabad.
The police took the US diplomat and his car into custody and shifted them to the Secretariat Police Station for legal action.
22-year-old Ateeq Baig was killed after being hit by the vehicle of the US diplomat near Daman-e-Koh Chowk in the federal capital on April 7.
Lately, the interior ministry informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that US defense and air attaché Col Joseph Emmanuel who allegedly killed a biker in a traffic accident in the federal capital has been blacklisted.
