Around 39 civilians, including 12 children, were killed on Sunday (12.08.2018) by an explosion that caused the collapse of a building in the northern province of Idleb, in an area controlled by Syrian rebels near the Turkish border, the report said. Syrian Observatory of Human Rights.
The explosion occurred in an ammunition store of an arms dealer, located on the ground floor of a residential building in the town of Sarmada, in the north of the province located in northwest Syria, according to the NGO. Most of the residents in the building were displaced from the province of Homs (west), according to the same source. The spokesman of the Syrian Civil Defense, Mayed Jalaf, told Efe by telephone that the building had five floors and collapsed completely by the explosion, whose causes are unknown.
