We all woke up this morning to the news of the Supreme Court giving its verdict on the Asia Bibi case. Around 9: 30 AM, the court announced that they have acquitted Asia of all charges, demanding her immediate release.
Many Pakistani celebrities took to Twitter to express how they felt after the verdict, like so many around the country

One such person was the superstar Mahira Khan. She gave her best wishes for Pakistan

The reactions to Mahira’s post, in particular, were really extreme and varied

People questioned her knowledge on the matter
“Apko ko khaak pata hy k role of Law kia hy Rule of Law k sab say bary Mojad Nabi SAWW ke zaat hy”
They even questioned her religion
“Madam Law of Humanity to batadia apnay Zara gustakh e Rasool k bare main kuch farmaingi? ap k agay deen Allah aur Nabi kia hain.”
Sharam and haya were brought in for no reason at all
“AP logo ko sharam Ani chahye itney liberals bhe na baney key apney imaan sey he chaley Jai”
It definitely is going to be a battle to change mindsets
“I still don’t get why people are supporting #AasiaBibi .. Pakistan Zindabad tou tab when we actually start punishing the people who break our country’s laws … blasphemy about the Prophet pbuh is one of the most sacred laws of Pakistan and it should be respected!!!”
Some comments were just plain old rude
“Ap apny Dramy or Filmy Karain Don’t Teach us rule of Law….”
A lot of people blame ‘outside Pakistan’ forces for this verdict, which again, doesn’t make sense
“Pakistan has become BANANA REPUBLIC where verdicts are not made in accordance with law but are enforced from extra constitutional forces”
There was a lot of mention of Mumtaz Qadri
“shame on u mam Mumtaz qadri k waqt ap jyso ko v sanp sonkh gaya tha ab nikal ai ho bhar humanity k lye ap jyse log k hoty hwy hamy islam k dushman bhar sy ni nazr aty”
Thankfully, though, there was some sanity that prevailed

It really isn’t about humanity.. It is the ACTUAL TEACHING & SPIRIT OF ISLAM that won today!! Let’s just stop making it Islam vs humanity debate, it makes the job of so called molvis easier…”
Today, Pakistan proved it was on the right side of history
“An injustice has been corrected, she and her family suffered for 9 years. Thank you Mahira for always speaking up and being on the right side. I immensely respect you.”
The verdict and the immediate aftermath of it are immense of Pakistan. The court made a monumental decision, one that will go down in the history books. This verdict has incited protests nationwide, and so we can only hope the next few days pass by peacefully and without any major incident.
