On Tuesday Prime Minister Imran Khan said there is no doubt that India was behind the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.
“They wanted to create an environment of uncertainty and instability in Pakistan,” PM Imran said in the National Assembly. “There is no doubt that India is behind the attack. Just like the terrorist incident that took place in Mumbai, they wanted to kill and take innocent people hostage.”
The premier said that security forces saved Pakistan from a great misfortune. “I pay tribute to them who laid down their lives for Pakistan and thwarted India’s attempt to destabilise Pakistan.”
Sub-Inspector Shahid and three security guards of PSX, Ifthikhar Khudayar and Hasan Ali are heroes of Pakistan, PM Imran stressed.
“I am very saddened to say that when the sister of Hasan Ali found out that her brother has been martyred, she had a heart attack and passed away,” PM added.
The premier informed the Lower House that the country’s intelligence apparatus is on high alert and four other attacks have also been thwarted.
Referring to the recently passed federal budget, the prime minister said that without bringing reforms in Pakistan, the country cannot prosper.
“It is a wonder that there was a surplus of Rs8b in 2008 and the steel mill was not under Rs200b debt,” he said, “It is because political appointments in government institutions like PIA , Pakistan Railways and steel mills that we are in such a difficult phase. There are cartels and mafias and a small group of people are making money.”
He further said that he is unfazed when opposition taunts him. “It is not what is said but who is saying it.”
“There is a saying ‘Mind over matter’,” the prime minster said. “I don’t mind because they do not matter.”
