President Donald Trump ‘s assertion that a coronavirus vaccine may be only weeks away was bluntly refuted by US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, telling Americans they should not believe the word of the president.
“The idea that there’s going to be a vaccine and everything’s gonna be fine tomorrow – it’s just not rational,” Biden said.
Most health officials, including Robert Redfield, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have said that a vaccine will likely not be widely available until mid-2021.
Trump has accused Biden of spreading “anti-vaccine rhetoric,” although Biden has clarified that he will be speaking to experts, not the president, on the efficacy of a vaccine.
